My neck of the woods is going through a tumultuous period, where we are going to elect a new mayor and council person in November. The preliminary election is in June so everyone has a campaign website to help voters decide.

It seems that all of the candidates want you to sign up for their email list. They must not get the volume of email that I receive. The last thing that I want to do is sign up for yet another email list.

Most of the sites are "weblogs" but they don't quite understand the purpose of a weblog, because you can't comment and you can't get an RSS feed from the site.

The notable exceptions are David Pandori, Sam Liccardo, and Jose Posadas.

Maybe in a couple of years the Capitol of the Silicon Valley will catch up to the rest of the world.

Occasionally, I review messages in my spam folder. The phishing exploits are so obvious it is silly. It makes me want to send one out just to see how stupid the online population is:

Congratulations

You filled out an online survey that indicates that you are really stupid and likely to fall for the following spiel.

Please send us your bank account number and social security number so that we can verify that you are in fact the moron who filled out the online survey.

How many responses do you think I would get?
