Starbucks ate my contact info...
I just registered my Starbucks card just in case...
You see, Starbuck has a convincing argument: If you ever lose your Starbucks card, they will replace it along with the balance you had on your card the last time it was used. They advertise the "register your card" campaign with the headline "The dog ate my Starbucks Card".
After I registered, I realized what I had just done. During the registration process, Starbucks asks for your name and contact info. Of course there are the usual marketing opt-out checkboxes in an attempt to appease your fears that this will lead to more spam, but what I didn't think about was this: Starbucks can now put two and two together.
Not only do they know how much I spend at Starbucks and what I buy and when I like to buy my coffee, but now they can match my purchase habits up with me as a person!
Boy, did I fall for that one. 10:34:40 PM Google It!
