Flintbox.

This seemed a bit interesting though I'm not sure I'm going to get the story 100% correct. It appears to be a database in which researchers from participating research universities can post profiles of "early stage technologies that are available for licensing" and then any revenue generated from these license fees is shared between the institution's industry liason/commercialization group, the 'flintbox' organization that provides this infrastructure, and the researcher themselves.

It appears to be technology developed at UBC, and seems to have been picked up by the Westlink Innovation Network, a Western Canadian "not-for-profit organization formed to facilitate communication, collaboration, training, and technology bundling and commercialization through a range of programs and services. WestLink's Membership consists of 25 western Canadian universities, colleges, and research institutes." UVic seemed to also have one of these installed (or is it all the same database I wonder?) - http://web.uvic.ca/idc/Flintbox.htm. - SWL
