Some of my colleagues make good use of  Mind Maps. They never really worked for me (my current favourite tool is an outliner).  Here are a couple of pointers that I wanted to explore further (gratuitously borrowed from another place on the net).

If you search using the term Radiant Thinking you will get a forest of links to the Buzan book and related courses. Try something like "mindmap technique'.

* Nice description of using Mind Maps in teaching and learning at http://www.thelearningcentre.org/projects_remap.html * The Mind Map Book by Tony Buzan - ISBN 0452273226 (alternate, search) * Summary of The Mind Map Book - now offline but still in the Google Cache
