The Learning Federation

What is the Learning Federation?

The Learning Federation was created to catalyze a revolution in learning science and technology and launch the action plan to make it a reality. Our goal is to join private companies, universities, government agencies, and private foundations together in pre-competitive research and development for next- generation technologies. Pooling the talent, expertise, and enthusiasm of these stakeholders will enable us to take a giant leap forward in developing scaleable, and affordable advanced learning systems. The R&D efforts will be disciplined by managing the work around a research plan built from advice provided by experts from industry and academia. The final product of these collective efforts will be pre-competitive concepts and tools that can be translated into courses, new interactive learning environments, and practical products.

From Scripting News - Dave Winer admits that commercials may occasionally be more interesting that the main content.  I would subscribe to an all commercials all the time station - especially if I could get access to my favourites anytime.  I used to subscribe to AdCritic.com but found that I stopped visiting the site after I could no longer save the commercials to my hard drive.  The website was just a little too cumbersome for me to continually navigate (and visit).  My own personal style with media like that is to watch them repeatedly - sometimes for days at time - as a pick-me-up.
