I just returned from Ithaca, NY, where I participated in the first ever reunion of Markles Flats.  Markles was the first alternative junior high school (grades 7, 8, and 9) in the U.S., and operated for three consecutive school years ('70-'71, '71-'72, '72-'73) before it was shut down for political reasons.  I attended Markles all three years of its existence.  It was pretty intense to see people I haven't seen for nearly 30 years (my family moved away from Ithaca in 1974).

I'll write more on this soon, once I've recovered.  :-)  In fact, I think Markles will be the subject of my first story on Wavicle (Radio, the software I use to write and publish this site refers to articles as stories).
