One more thing: dropping a nice TeX-created PDF formula into OS X PowerPoint doesn't work right: the equation is converted to a bitmap. I understand they may need to do this in the interests of compatibility with Windows, but for OS X, which has PDF-based rendering, it's the wrong choice.

Keynote and math: after some in hindsight unnecessary fumbling (thanks, Steve!), I now have a way to include beautiful formulas in Keynote presentations. The nice little tool Equation Service uses PDFLaTeX to convert an (AMS-La)TeX formula into a PDF with containing just the formula, which can then be dropped into a Keynote slide. For color, the templates provided by Equation Service are not quite right, as they set a background color, which overlays the slide's background. I created an additional Equation Service template that does not set a background color, and that does the trick. Equation Service is still unfinished, but it works pretty well for this. Now if I could figure out why it seems to cause occasional crashes of fix_prebinding...
