Now I know why my refrigerator should be connected to the Internet.[...]I want it online to let me know when it's not working. [Dan Gillmor's eJournal] The problem here is that the refrigerator failed because it lost power. If the refrigerator does not respond to an HTTP request, what can we conclude? What is really needed here is a monitoring system with independent power. It starts getting complicated, and potentially difficult to manage. Not to mention the security issues (which Gillmor alludes to), such as what information could leak out about someone's home and activities. 2:38:26 PM ![]() |
