This course addresses an increasingly serious problem: science and engineering depend on computational experiments, but scientists and engineers are not trained to be effective computational experimenters. This is true even of computer scientists. Lack of skill in computational experimentation leads to inefficient research, difficult to reproduce experiments, and, worse of all, wrong results. We need to do better. Greg Wilson, who designed and teaches the course, gave a nice interview at HPCwire. (Via Daily Python-URL! (from the Secret Labs).)
