Just so long as it's campaign rhetoric.... Jill Zuckman writes in today's Chicago Tribune on how the Kerry-Edwards ticket responds to hostile and vocal Bush supporters at campaign events: Nobody ever said campaigning like Harry Truman on the back of a train through hostile territory was going... [Daniel W. Drezner]

Kerry speaks to crowds of 30,000, allowing in Bush supporters while Bush speaks to much smaller crowds, usually at military installations, and requires the signing of loyalty cards to enter. One welcomes everyone. The other only the loyal. Which approach is a better model for the America we all want?  comment []1:17:09 PM

"MMFA investigates: Who is Jerome Corsi, co-author of Swift Boat Vets attack book?" [Daypop Top 40]

Well, what should anyone expect from a book published by a right wing house? Balance. Fairness. Let's see. The men on his boat and the man whose life he saved are for him. Men who were never under his command, men who wrote him extremely good recommendations, men who just a few years ago defended him against similar slurs, are now telling the truth. I guess getting well funded by Republicans can have all sorts of effects on your point of view.  comment []11:09:18 AM

CNN on Khan Scandal: Has it Prevented the Capture of Bin Laden?

More on this Administration's latest fiasco. Read it. Read what Juan Cole discusses further down the page, what the media outside the US is saying, how this Adminsitration screwed its own allies, how the guys arrested may not have enough evidence against them to be held, how one of the greatest tools we had to fight al Queda was simply given up on an apparent whim. It is one thing to out a CIA undercover agent working on WMD for political reasons (a really bad, stupud thing) but what kind of moronic administration allows an active, ongoing asset like this, one that they had to know about because our allies have discssed how happy the American agents were, to be senselessly destroyed.

Boy, I sure feel safer now! This is not a Red state, Blue State thing. This Adminstration seems to have casually destroyed the usefulness of an incredible valauable intelligent asset, a mole who was actively helping us get to al Queda. The sooner the guys are gone, the safer we all will be. I do not hate them because they are Republican. I dislike them because they are incompetant. They are not making us safer and are, in many ways, demonstrably making things worse.  comment []10:45:49 AM
