Part of what is wrong with America

Still, Wall Street analysts intent on cutting up-front labor costs tend to frown upon Costco[base ']s model. [base "]Costco[base ']s corporate philosophy is to put its customers first, then its employees, then its vendors and finally its shareholders. Shareholders get the short end of stick,[per thou] said Deutsche Bank analyst Bill Dreher.

A rationale from an investor why WalMArt is better than COstco. See, Costco puts its cutomers, employees and vendors first, before shareholders. The way it is supposed to be done by these MBA idiots is to only care about shareholders and screw everyone else. This is what an ownership society is supposed to be. Yet, Costco does extremely well, having much better numbers for sales/ employee, retention rates, etc. All the numbers indicate that it is a good value for shareholders. You would think that the lesson would be 'Take care of everything else, and shareholder value will come along.' But most of thse guys running Wall STreet do not seem to be intelligent enough to recognize this.  3:06:20 PM

Never Again

One of the interesting highlights of the last few months is being able to compare the identification of Deep Throat, who helped reveal skullduggery from the Nixon administration but remained secret and Joe Wilson, who revealed misleading information from this Administration and came forward. I have had discussions with several Republicans who stated that they have no respect for Felt because he did not come forward. That he was cowardly and stabbed his compatriots in the back. He was as much a traitor, maybe even more so, than Nixon. So they say.

We can now see just what would have happened if he had come forward. Joe Wilson was smeared, his wife was smeared, a member of the CIA whose expertise was in WMD had their career ruined, as well as all their contacts and the CIA front company created over some years destroyed, all because this Administration did not like the fact he disagreed with them. For purely partisan gain and to save their own skins, they severely damaged national security. All so they could try and make him look bad and to distract the American public from the misleading statements and actions they had taken.

Does anyone doubt that the same thing would have happened to Mark Felt if he had come forward? In fact, look at how much Joe Wilson has been smeared, a man who worked in the State Department for 22 years, under 5 Presidents, was an Ambassador to Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe, the man in charge of African policy on the NSA for Clinton. He was our last Ambassador to Iraq, who sheltered many people in the Embassy at a time Saddam was threatening death to anyone who did do. This is a man who saw Saddam up front and knew what he was. So, I guess these Republicans just want someone to come forward with their evidence of wrongdoing simply so they can crucify them. They really do not care about the actions that underlie the wrongddoing. No, bring these guys forward so we can destroy them to serve as an example for anyone else who might like to come forward.

As we know now, the facts of the matter support Wilson's conclusions. Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and could not do more than simply contemplate building any. When the Adminstration continued peddling misinformation, Wilson spoke up. And look what has happend to him, his family and this nation. How in the world can ANYONE say that Mark Felt was wrong for kepping his identity secret? If you were aware of criinal wrongdoing by the government, would you come forward with the information? See your life and the lives of those around you destroyed? Shades of McCarthy and the Red Menace. Better to keep quiet and let the crooks do their deeds, even if it hurts the US.

The lessons we are seeing played out here is that if you are aware of wrongdoing by a Republican Adminstration, keep your identity secret, if not your mouth. Making it public only destroys your career, the careers of everyone close to you and even the security of our nation. The pugs that come after you care little about this country and wish only to remain in power, by ANY means.

It is amazing to me that EVERY Republican Administration elected in this country over the last generation have done tremendous harm to it. Nixon and Watergate started this process. Reagan-Bush continued it with the Iran-Contra scandal, where the Executive Branch simply ignored Congress, found ways to raise its own money and fund a secret army. Just what sort of damage this Administration will do to America still remains to be seen. Yet these scoundrels impeached a man for getting a blow job.

I've been a moderate most of my life. I have voted for Republicans for President. But one of the things I am proudest of is that I never voted for Nixon, Reagan, Bush I or Bush II. Because, to elect a Republican to the Presidency is to help destroy the US. I have learned a valuable lesson. I WILL never vote for a Republican for President again. EVER. Because when the Republicans are in charge of the Executive branch, they hurt this country, they make it worse for all of us and harm our country's ability to do good in this world. They do this to an extent just not seen in any of the Democratic Administrations in my lifetime. I'm not saying the Democrats are perfect and perhaps a third party will arise to lead us out of the sewers that we are in, but in the meantime, I simply can not vote for a Republican President. They are too harmful to America.  12:07:49 PM
