Gates calls for 'trustworthy computing' [IDG InfoWorld]

Well, this story keeps growing and growing. What's really funny is that in typical Bill Gates fashion, security is now "Trustworthy Computing"™. It reminds me of that old joke: "How many Microsoft programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?" "None. Bill Gates will just define Darkness™ as the new standard"

So. How long before Trustworthy Computing™ is the new euphemism for a security hole?

Java's "superstar" on why Microsoft's C# isn't. Java inventor James Gosling says he isn't losing much sleep over Microsoft these days, despite the software giant's effort to stem Java's popularity with its own Java-like language. [CNET News.com]

A short, mostly meaningless interview, but it may as well be linked. The fun part is where Gosling takes credit for writing emacs. The fun part is where Gosling is writing an IDE - I read an interview with him in JavaWorld six months ago and he was incredibly scathing about IDEs, writing them off as toys, and a poor substitute for emacs.
