The Planets Line Up. There's quite a sight in the night sky! Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter are all on the same side of the Sun. That means they appear very close together in the sky. But look soon, it won't happen again for 58 years! [Liftoff]
I've been watching them for a few weeks now; a nice sight to see. Most of us never get out to look at the stars, to take this opportunity.

Clouds in the Canyon: My old pal John recommended this piece on hiking the fish river canyon in Namibia. An interesting piece, well-written, but with lots of little editing lapses, as in this paragraph:
Seth’s rush of adrenaline in the aftermath is gone, and he is hanging like a rag doll. It’s very hard to carry him more than a few feet at a time without a respite. So we stop beneath a camel thorn tree. Its branches, more gray then green, shine with a metallic glister and give little shade. I put my daypack under Seth’s neck as a pillow, and we prop his leg on another. It is clear we can’t carry him all the way out in a timely fashion — it would take days at this rate.
I hate to be nit-picky, well no I don't, but MSNBC is a professional publication. Its writer and readers deserve better than the little sloppiness of spellings; they are disconcerting and take you out of the story, distancing you fom it when you should be pulled in.
