George Alec Effinger: Sorry to read about the death of George Alec Effinger. I admired his cyberpunk-like novels set in a New Orleans transformed into a Muslim city (with their nice Dylan titles), and others. In the early 90s, he was active on the CompuServe Science Fiction forum, and even uploaded a text file of, I think, The Exile Kiss there. I remember he was complaining of bad health at that time. THe SFWA has a page of appreciations.
