Randy Alfred sent along his yearly reminder of Beethoven's birthday. Had he lived -- ! -- Beethoven would be 235 today. Thanks to Randy for the reminder, though I'm tempted to do so, I will not associate my name with the groaner of a shaggy dog story that is "A Summer Evening in the Hamptons," about a legendary performance of the Ninth Symphony, conducted by Leonard Bernstein.
