According to this story at PC Pro, lots of Microsofties are calling for heads to roll at the upper echelons. Sounds like the Bush administration, where the bad decisions don't have any negative consequences for those who make them, only for those who have to carry them out. I like this:
The diatribe set off a lot of feeling amongst Microsoft employees
with several demanding that Ballmer should head the list of people who
should be fired from the company. One remarked: 'Being a 10+ year vet I
feel ashamed and sad. This company is a mess on so many levels'.
Even more damning is the comment 'Vista - I wouldn't buy it with
someone else's money. Then again what do I know, I've only been testing
the dog for the last 2-3 yrs'. But then the article makes a strange statement: "However, the decision to let the Vista date slip does have its supporters within the Windows team." It doesn't sound to me as if most of the protesting is by people who feel the OS should ship, just that heads should roll. I don't know. OSes are complicated things, and I've been part of a team trying to ship a damned website for the last few weeks, and it's hard enough.
