Why the revolution has no scruples.

Some people have a very hard time understanding what Chavez and his cohorts want to do and why. The reason is remarkably simple, these people have no ethics, morals or scruples. This was proven today in a report in Ultimas Noticias (free if you register) on what pro-Chavez Constitutional lawyer Carlos Escarra said in a forum on the media and the recall referendum:

"The recall referendum will not happen, because we don't want it to happen. Here we have a population that does not want it.

"The idea is to gain time and to that end we will question every signature that backs the recall"

"We will fight, so that the YES vote favors Chávez"

"He believes that the presence of Bolivarian circles will intimidate the people"

"In his opinion, the vote will take place whenever the Government wants"

But the most immoral part was:

He discarded the possibility of calling for elections if Chavez loses. In that case (after Aug. 19th) the Vice-President will assume the position, he in turn would name Chavez to his position (Vice-Presidency), he would then resign and Chavez would assume the Presidency.  (This is all strictly correct)

And you thought Al Capone was a con man!!!!!!

[Miguel Octavio: Venezuela]

If Chavez and his cronies are openly saying that they won't honor the referendum if they ever do allow it to occur, what's the point of pretending that the referendum will do any good? It really sounds to me like the only "no" vote that will get rid of Chavez is a bullet to the brain.

This “Classicist” Is A Classic Totalitarian. Some time ago, a dunce who worked for Nancy Pelosi stomped out of a VD Hanson appearance, complaining that VD was a “classist.” This proud display of leftist ignorance has been passed around neocon circles as an example of their... According to VD, the only Iraqis who oppose U.S. government occupation of their country are "bin Ladens, Taliban remnants, and Saddamites."

Evidently at least some Crusaders are unable to tell the difference between Afghanistan and Iraq.

By Jo Mannies at The St. Louis Post-Dispatch - A-B drops support of Holden over guns - Anheuser-Busch, brewer of Buddweiser, Michelog, Busch, and other beer brands, and the largest corporate player in Missouri politics, has dropped its support of governor Holden over his anti-gun stance. Bravo! [trt-ny smith2004]
Republican and Democratic sources say the brewery's decision not to support the governor's re-election next year is highly unusual in light of its long-standing reputation as a donor which gives generously to both parties and their candidates, regardless of their views.

Before Holden vetoed the [concealed carry] bill last summer, sources say, a brewery lobbyist showed up at the governor's office to tell him that such action would end the long-standing support he'd enjoyed from Anheuser-Busch and its executives. Holden confirmed that position later in phone conversations with Anheuser-Busch Cos. Chairman August A. Busch III and corporate group vice president Stephen K. Lambright, sources said.

It's nice to see a company basing its support for a politician on a desire for freedom. It's a shame more companies aren't like that.

Do gun laws prevent violence? Health officials don't know. A sweeping federal review of the nation's gun control laws -- including mandatory waiting periods and bans on certain weapons -- found no proof such measures reduce firearm violence.

The review, released Thursday, was conducted by a task force of scientists appointed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said the report suggests more study is needed, not that gun laws don't work. But the agency said it has no plans to spend more money on firearms study. [FirearmNews.com]

The outcome of this study is hardly surprising, but it is surprising that the CDC would admit it, given their long history of producing anti-gun propaganda.
