I finally missed a day of logging. I sort of dropped off the face of the planet altogether yesterday. Took the day off from work and relaxed. This afternoon, I went to our pool to try and hide from the 100+ degree heat that is gripping Atlanta. It gets hot here in the summer like nothing I remember from my Northeastern youth and yound adulthood. Even at night, there is no cooling off like up North. I felt like I was going to melt in a parking garage last night.

I went to see Eyes Wide Shut last night. I'd heard nothing but bad things word of mouth, and I went because I don't think that Stanely Kubrick had made a bad movie previous to this effort. Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite movies of all time, and The Shining is right up there in the top twenty five or thirty. Eyes Wide Shut is about tension more than anything else. I had all types of ideas about it going in that weren't accurate. I thought it was brilliant and phenomenal. It was also about half an hour longer than it needed to be. Cruise and Kidman's performances were really solid, and the story, which is more mental and psychological than physical, was disturbing and moving. I think people haven't liked it because they are too lazy to do the work to get it. The use of colors in the movie was crazy. There were some scenes where powerful colors ran into each other like an impressionist painting. His use of light was also a strong component in the beautiful cinematography. Overall, I recommend the movie. If you don't want to do some thinking and analyzation, don't go. The movie has no Web site to speak of, which disappointed me to no end.

I bought a copy of Connectix's Virtual Game Station , a Playstation emulator for the Macintosh, and a Gravis Gamepad Pro USB controller. I'm a big PlayStation fan, and I'm putting this software through its paces and composing a review. I'll post it here when I have finished.(Probably tommorrow) The court battle between Connectix and Sony over this product continues and is delaying the release of the Windows version of the software as well as additional updates for the Mac version that are complete. This thing makes no sense to me. Despite the fact that I already have a PlayStation, this software means I have the ability to take my games on the road with me. The first thing I did, despite the fact that I already own several games, was buy a couple of new ones. Software sales would go up if this product was also available for Windows. Can't Sony see that?
