X-Cube v1.0 [320k] W9x/2k/XP FREE. In all my years on the planet Earth (not counting that summer on Mars), I have yet to encounter anyone who has solved the Rubik's Cube. As frustrating as that little thing was, I couldn't stop twisting and turning it. Now you can experience the joy all over again, thanks to this awesome new computer version. It's not made by the people who brought you the "original," but the concept is still the same. Wanna hear a true story? I was over visiting a friend one day, picked up his Pyraminx, and solved it in a few random moves. He still swears (up and down) that I cheated somehow. Yeah, how?! I couldn't even pass open book tests in Economics. Perhaps I'm smarter than I think I am? Nah. It was just dumb luck. [Lockergnome Windows Daily]

After reading CamWorld on Tuesday I think I've finally come to the conclusion that webloggers are taking themselves way too seriously.
Am I a journalist? Not here I'm not.
But, I'm getting tired of the "metablogging" that's going on (you know, webloggers talking about weblogging and pointing at other webloggers who are talking about weblogging). It all gets so refererential after a while.

The end of Blender?. "lowell writes 'The shareholders and directors of NaN Holding BV, owners of Blender, have decided to terminate all activities of NaN Technologies BV and apply for its bankruptcy at the Amsterdam court. It means that effective today, all technology development and website activities around Blender will be frozen. ' Nice app. Too bad really." Read the Slashdot article and discussion here. Mister Rogers' E-Neighborhood. Everyone's favorite neighbor, Fred Rogers, chats with Wired News about children, education and technology. 'No machine could ever do any more than spell out H-U-G,' he says. 'It could never give you one.' [Wired News]

The Slow Death March of Commercial Windows Software. Many have already expounded on the idea that Microsoft is playing into the arms of open source software by continuing its seemingly-eternal cycle of releasing ever more bloated, overfeatured, and security-unconscious products. This does indeed appear to be true, and more recent "innovations" of software-as-service, perpetual contracts, forced upgrades, and casual privacy invasions both corporate and consumer only serve to enrage its precious customer base. I am convinced that beyond all of the previously discussed self-created challenges that Microsoft will face lies another, even greater problem: Microsoft is quietly killing off its developer base. Out the Window. With all the debate about skinning and scrollbars, we seem to be missing a key point. The
concept of a windowed interface stems from a time when screen space was a high-priced
commodity. Remember the original Mac's 9-inch screen? [osOpinion]
