Michael, Michael, Michael...
Is Michael Jackson a child molester? My mind says yes, my heart hopes not. Is he an idiot for putting himself in this position, YES!

This is a man who went through this issue 10 years ago, and should have known better. He may have done nothing more then slept in a bed with one or more children. There may have never been any sexual contact. But at the very least he was stupid to think that no one would ever take advantage of the situation. At the very least he created a situation where it is easy for any child who slept with him, to claim that something happened. What does it say of the parents who put their kids in that situation?

Then again, he may be a child molester. If convicted, I promise to delete and destroy every piece of music of his I posses. It is not for me to convict him, that is the courts responsibility. It is the State's duty to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did it. Time will provide us with answers, not that we may all like, or agree with them. Mark this though, his career was damaged, it is now dead, regardless of how this turns out...mj

FBI keeps eye on anti-war protesters
The FBI has collected information about tactics and training used by anti-war protesters in an effort to blunt potential violence by extremist elements, a federal law enforcement official said Sunday.

The FBI warned of tactics used by such groups in a weekly bulletin circulated to 15,000 law enforcement agencies around the country last month before large demonstrations in Washington and San Francisco to protest the Iraq war...more [CNN]

I am of two minds on this matter. After seeing what was done in Seattle first-hand, I can understand the concerns of FBI when it relates the the anarchist. On the other hand this is a slipper slop that was part of the problems that led to the abuses of the Nixon Whitehouse, and the paranoid treatment of dissent. The right to disagree is a crucial part of our American liberties. The right to acts of Civil Disobedience is also crucial to the moral character of this country. When law enforcement chills those freedoms, they conflict with the very nature of our democracy.

It is for that reason that I find those on the 'Right' so disgusting when they call Liberals 'Traitors'. There can be no Yin without Yang, no good without evil, no law without chaos, no order without disorder. How can you define a position without an opposing view. That is one of the keys of democracy...mj

Liner Notes...
My new job is moving along nicely. I have been taking customer calls for about ten days. It's a fine example of book learning not matching the reality of being in the trenches. I like the products, the company is great, and it's a fantastic chance to rebuild.

Yesterday was the first regular Saturday shift I have ever worked, and today is the first Sunday shift. I will be working on 12/23 for the first time in my life. Happily my office won a prize this year and will be off on Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It's going to be strange going in on my birthday though. In 44 years I had never worked, or been in school on that day.

It's a new dawn in my life, and I can at least see the way out of the mess that has been the past few years. Being separated still saddens me, but I enjoy my time with my son. My brother says that sometimes you just have to admire the craftsmanship of the holes we dig for ourselves. The hard part is the fill dirt always gets dumped next to it, and not in it. Of course that's a good thing in case you're still in the hole...mj

Apple faces the music
The iPod will be on many gift wish lists. But can Apple hold off challenges from Dell and others?

Digital music players are likely to be one of the hottest selling tech gadgets this holiday shopping season. And no company should benefit more than Apple.

Apple's iPod music player has been a huge success. Apple sold 336,000 iPods in its fiscal fourth quarter (which ended in September), generating $121 million in revenue, or 7 percent of Apple's total sales -- more than twice last year's levels....more [CNN-Money]

Apple has caught the market, now the question is how long will the ride last? With Pepsi set to turn on the music with it's Superbowl launch, and McDonalds still rumored to have big plans in store for the music store, we will see how far the rocket flies...mj
