Court nixes Net music subpoenas
In a surprise setback for the recording industry, a U.S. appeals court said Friday its methods for tracking down those who copy its music over the Internet are not authorized by law.

If upheld, this is a good step towards putting some limits on the insane powers granted copyright holders in recent laws. Putting an end to RIAA fishing expeditions would force them to put more thought into what they're doing (though I am not sure they have the brain cells to do that)...mj
