'Home Improvement' actor dies Actor Earl Hindman, best known for playing a neighbor whose face was forever obscured by a fence on the television show "Home Improvement," died of lung cancer Monday in Stamford, Connecticut. He was 61...more [CNN] Always my favorite on the long running series, he will be missed. The strange thing is that when you play a role like that, don't you die when the show goes off the air?
