Thomas Alva Edison Memorial Tower and Menlo Park Museum -> the birthplace of recorded sound
Next Saturday is the 126th anniversary (Dec. 6, 1877) of Thomas Edison recording the nursery rhyme "Mary had a little lamb" on his first phonograph at the laboratory in Menlo Park.
The Menlo Park monument is located at the corner of Christie Street and Route 27 (Lincoln Highway) in Edison, New Jersey. I grew up in a house walking distance from the Tower and Museum. The giant lightbulb on the top of the Tower was visible from my childhood home's backyard. This probably has something to do with my interest in audio. If Edison was alive today what would he think about the progress of "recorded sound" and "recorded audio messaging" on the Internet today?
