It's all in the feed

I wonder is Laura Ries opinion based on her statement "Also, one of a blog's unique features is the ability to link to other content on the Web—something that podcasting would have difficultly doing." would change if she took a look at what we been doing daily with "The Daily Podcast Feed".

In only a month, "The Daily Podcast Feed" blog has had over one thousand visitors. That's not bad for a blog that has had very little promotion beyond this site.  The thousand visitors does not include all the other listeners that use the feeds themselves to gain access to the podcasts.  It wouldn't surprise me if those numbers are even greater then the blog's.

The greatest thing for me so far has been all the positive email I've received from the podcasters I've included in the feeds.  It's always nice to get email thanking you. I also like the idea that I've been able to help a lot of new good podcasts find their audience.

Creating custom podcast feeds based on subject categories and vertical markets using Audioblogging 2.0 methods is going to be huge for Marketers that really want to have a daily conversation with their customers and potential future customers.  I'm kind of surprised they haven't figured it this out already.

As the number of podcasts grow, I believe there will be a demand from a part of the podcast audience for trusted podcast subject channel feeds that add variety and depth to subject categories.  As the methods to podcasting become easier and we the podcast listeners begin to go on podcast attention overload, the days and era of trusted podcast subject channel feeds will begin.  The new podcast subject channel feed producers will learn what their highly marketable audience wants to hear and will introduce amateur and new podcasters with new ideas and products to channel subscribers only when it adds variety and value to the conversation promoted by the channel.

MarketingProfs: Move Over Blogs: Here Come Podcasts:

"Laura Ries, author and reknowned expert on marketing and branding strategy, happens to also be a blogger (of the Origin of Brands blog), but not yet a podcaster. In Ries's opinion, bloggers may have a hard time successfully transitioning to podcasting.

Blogging is a written medium, and podcasting is an audio medium," says Ries. "It takes a unique skill to deliver content verbally. Some bloggers could make the switch, but many I am guessing could not. Also, one of a blog's unique features is the ability to link to other content on the Web—something that podcasting would have difficultly doing."
