Palm has a fairly large booth on the exhibit floor. Lots of Palm developers showing their education products.
One interesting Palm OS product is ImagiMath from ImagiWorks. This $39 application turns your Palm OS device into a handheld math lab. The application includes three applications, ImagiCalc, ImagiGraph, and ImagiSolve.
Texas Instruments is also on the floor showing integration products for their graphing calculators. The screen image on the TI products is pretty primitive. I think a Palm OS device equipped with graphing calculator software is a more versatile product, especially if you throw in a Palm keyboard.   3:46:33 PM  permalink

Laptop Loaner Program: Apple Computer is here at the conference with a laptop loaner program. They are loaning teachers wireless equipped iBooks for use during the conference. For many teachers this is their first experience using a wireless computer. One related to me his experience sitting out on one of the convention center patios, sipping a cup of coffee and checking his email. He was quite happy with the experience.

The conference also has large banks of desktop PCs and Macs set up for use by the conference attendees. These too are using wireless.  9:51:05 AM  permalink

I am attending the National Education Computing Conference in San Antonio, Texas. I'll be posting to this site with session notes and other things I find interesting.

One nice touch at this years conference is the use of technology from BlueFish that allows for the beaming of the conference program to a Palm OS device. It is very nice to have the entire program on a handheld which is searchable. No need to carry around that bulky catalog... :-)  7:21:53 AM  permalink
