It's 3AM, do you know where you bookmark is?
It's 3:00AM the 30th of August. At 5:00PM, August 29th, I purchased a book at Barnes and Nobles (the real physical store, not the webstore).

What book kept me up way past my bedtime? Wil Wheaton's Just A Geek. If you liked, or heard of, Wesley Crusher from Star Trek, this book sheds new light on What's Been Going on With Wil Wheaton Since Trek.

I hated to put the book down. (I also found Yet Another Advantage of having Someone else in your life... They can drive if you are deep in reading a book. Sadly, there is no Someone, so I couldn't read for the entire 45 minute trip home. It about killed me.)

It was also very cool, reading stories from the book, and going hey, I read that story on your blog, man!!!. The book included background information, giving the stories background (which you often don't get on a blog.)

The subtitle says

Unflinchingly honest tales of the search for life, love, and fulfillment beyond the Starship Enterprise.
It's a tale of a journey: at the beginning, we have Wil, who can't seem to land a job, trying to prove to everybody that Leaving Star Trek Was A Good Idea. In the middle there's contentment - that he made the right decision, the realization that often you don't savor a certain part of your life like you should because you're too busy with other things. At the end, we have Wil, realizing that hey, acting is great, but writing is really nice too.

So that's what I thought of the book. I knew it would be worth the money when I picked it up, flipped it over, and saw the picture of Wil on the back cover, lounging at his desk, with 10-12 ThinkGeek monkeys. (I had a hard time classifying some of the toys in the photo.. there were monkeys, monkeys, monkeys, other monkeys I can't identify, and other toys. (3:30AM is a bad time to be obsessive-compulsive, ok?)

And when the back-of-the-book-quote is written by Cory Doctorow, and the new-chapter art done by John Kovalic, that just adds to the Geek Factor of the book.

And Wil includes his Geek Code!! (Hmmmm.. I should post mine sometime...)

Ok. Now to sleep, if I can, given the humid conditions here...
