The archive also contains a helper script that you can use to manually update the property after you modify a file's attributes, so that status and commit calls work as expected.

Sooo in other words: it's a hack. Hmmm... it would be nice to have a pre-commit client side script do this. Don't remember if that's actually possible or not.
