Thank you very much, Garth.  I was missing the semicolon at the end of the "on" and "for" blocks.  There really should be a UserLand tutorial on translating Object Database-stored scripts into macros, and the subtle differences between them.  If one exists, could somebody point it out to me?  Thanks.  Also, Garth's right, there should be an easy way to debug macros.  I do, however, like the debugging apparatus for database-owned scripts.

I wrote the script that automatically inserts links to all my categories on a homepage.  However, I can only get it to run from the object database; when I try to put it in a macro, it won't compile and I get the "name not defined" error message.  Can anybody tell me how to turn this into a macro?
