Hideous Premonition

The Academy Awards. A live television audience of 1 billion.

If you were a terrorist, could you think of a juicier target? Right in the industrial heart of the immoral infidel's second most profitable export.

We haven't heard much about security preparations for these Oscars (intentionally, I'm sure). No doubt the Kodak Theatre -- the new venue -- is thoroughly wired and crowd-control-friendly. It also has a smaller seating capacity... and is probably bristling with the appropriate security measures. Still. In the last weeks, we've seen again and again in Israel the damage that one person who's willing to die can do.

Things have been quiet for us here in States for months now. Am I the only one who's still expecting another shoe to drop?

God, I hope I'm wrong, and it's just the late night heebie-jeebies. (Didn't I say something earlier about going to bed at a regular hour? I should really look into that.)
