It looks like at least Sam Ruby is in favor of proposing Cocoblog (or xml-cocoon-blog) to the Apache project. Ugo, you have my full support with this project once I get some freetime :)

Ugo Cei: What I want From Xindice

What *I* Want From Xindice:

I want a way that we can associate a DTD or an XML Schema with a collection. If a document is added to the collection or modified in a way that would violate the DTD/Schema, Xindice would return an error. Basically I want validation on add/edit. I have some cool ideas, but until this feature isn't in Xindice, its limitations are shown. I wish I were familliar with the Xindice internals, much like Ugo, in order to be able to jump in and start hacking. I'm already too busy learning Cocoon, though :)

Oh yeah, and Ugo, if the people speak, give them what they want :) Perhaps you could still keep the Cocoblog-specific stuff in CVS somewhere, minus all of the actual Cocoon code, ie, XSPs, etc.

Bob and Ugo have been talking about dependency on Xindice, and I do like the idea of embedding Xindice into applications. It looks like there's a movement on xindice-dev to clean up the Xindice API, which will be nice. I'm not familliar with CORBA, but why go through extra stuff when you can directly access the straight-up Java API? I don't want to have to learn CORBA just to interact with the Xindice programatically.

Oh yeah, I'm reviewing one of the Cocoon Books due out soon. I promised the nice woman from New Riders a review by last Monday, but I managed to lose her email address! I'm so sorry! The book is looking great, and as soon as I have the actual book in my hands, I will treat everyone to a review as soon as possible.

Mini Cocoon book review: Looking really good so far :)
