The Idiots Have Taken Over

Took my friend to JFK Airport last night so he could return to Paris.

He is a Pakistani American, naturalized for over 6 years.

Runs a theatre company (removed URL so as to not identify him) in Paris and New York.

Going to Paris to prepare show "Rivage a l'abandon" for April performances in Munich Germany.

Directed shows in:

New York (Downtown Arts Festival, 13th Street) Paris (Chatillon) Paris, (Batofar) Nantes, France Belfort, France New York (Downtown Arts Festival, The Kitchen) Quebec, Canada Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzgovenia

The above is just to set his credentials.

He was traveling with a laptop, Macintosh G3 with all the imcumbent cables and some accessories.

At the first checkpoint leading to the gate he was forced to unpack his carry-on bag because the attendant working the X-Ray machine saw something; a justifiable thing. I was watching from the glass barrier and saw what was going on. The clerk, now a federal employee, took out each item and pondered it; I saw her looking quizzically at his headphones. At one point in this phase he was told he had too many wires for his computer; remember the line from Amadeus where the Emperor tells Mozart that one of his operas has too many notes? This comment is in the same stupid vein.

At some point an INS agent came over and asked him questions; INS the same agency that issues visas to dead terrorists; are they on top of things or what?. US Passport in hand they ask him if he is a US citizen, nothing gets past them. I am feeling very safe with these idiots on the job.

Remember these people are the same people who were making $5.00 an hour as the security force, but now they are working for the US Government; a very disquieting thought.

Also remember this is the same government that spent 100s of billions of dollars for intelligence prior to 9/11 and could not find their ass with both hands, even with their pants caught down. Are you feeling secure yet?

The end result was they confiscated his computer so they could study it and the other CDs that he had in his possession. I got a call from him this afternoon telling about his exploitation and the fact that the computer was delivered to him at his Paris address by KLM after he arrived. There was no receipt given to him by the "Blackshirts" and thinly veiled threats were issued to him by the same people.

Under the law passed late last year this is all legal; an abomination at least, total disregard and abrogration of the Constitution at worst.

I find it interesting that in the stories about Ashcroft covering up the bare breast of the Justice Statue, nobody realized that he was actually covering up Justice as we know it.

I have a question. If they wanted to, what program if any, could they have put on his computer to "track" his stuff? He does nothing illegal with his computer, but the idea that there could be a program put on it to track his thoughts is abhorrent.   comment11:32:23 PM

Along Hester Street, two old "relics" of the past.

Also related an episode of the new "security" tactics that have taken over the constitution.

Walking along Essex Street near Hester Street; the old and the new kind of blend in with each other.
