Still sinking; friends were taking pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge and were told that it was verboten; are we crazy or what?

Under the category of "Can the United States sink to a new low?" a friend of mine is visiting from the Netherlands. He was taking pictures of the lobby of the Farley Post Office and was "arrested" (dragged off to the Postal Police Station) and made to erase all the secret pictures of the lobby. What didn't the Postal Service want the world to see the postal workers wasting their time and the time and money of their patrons, or they didn't want the world to see the disrepair of the landmark building and lobby. It couldn't be for the stated reason, homeland security, what are they afraid of? I am embarassed.
