Kerry Colour Party for Liam Lynch event

John O'Shea, Kerry Republican Sinn Féin
April 2, 2003

A colour party from Kerry is to take part in the Republican Sinn Féin commemoration to General Liam Lynch who was killed in a gun battle with Free State forces in the Knockmealdown Mountains during the Civil War.RSF spokesman in North Kerry, John O'Shea from Ballylongford who is also the PRO for the Liam Lynch Commemoration Committee said today that Kerry will be well represented at the event.

A colour party drawn from Ballylongford and Limerick will be at the commemoration which is being addressed by Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, the President of Republican Sinn Féin, said Mr. O'Shea.

The commemoration takes place on Sunday 13th April in Kilcrumper cemetry near Fermoy in County Cork not far from Liam Lynch's birthplace where we will assemble at 2.30 pm led by a colour party from Kerry and Limerick.

The oration by Ruairí Ó Brádaigh will be of major importance at this time of political crisis with the failure of the Stormont Agreement to bring a real and lasting peace to the Six Counties.

The leader of Republican Sinn Féin will draw comparisons with the lessons of the past and outline our party's proposals for a new Ireland under the Éire Nua programme.

In view of the current political situation in the Six Counties we are appealing to all true Republicans and indeed the general public to attend and not only recall the sacrifices of men like Liam Lynch but pay tribute to all those who have died for Ireland.
