Using a Personal Web Proxy

Since my total lapse of brain, and subsequent recovery, I've been using AgentFrank to aid me with my websurfing needs. It's a Personal Web Proxy, written by Les Orchard, that snaffles all my web traffic and, along with other stuff, provides a searchable database of EVERYTHING that's passed through my browser or RSS reader. The upshot so far? I've not made a single bookmark in three hours - very unusual for me, and I'm wondering how I can add my email into the database too. and my chat transcripts. and my phone calls. and and and

Oh. The. Possibilities. [Ben Hammersley.com]

Ah, OK, now I get it. I contemplated something similar last year and I christened* it WebDex. Here's the blurb I wrote on Jan 5, 2002:
Webdex is a utility that monitors all the web sites that you visit, storing indexing information for each page. From a search panel, you can then find previously visited web pages by searching for key words (“auto repair bulletins” would find that site I paid money on to get auto repair bulletins for my Jeep)
I tried to filter the net via a kext, but I can see that a proxy makes much more sense, and is x-platform to boot! I'll give AgentFrank another try, now that I know what it does :-)

*arg I gotta stop using that term, root Christ!
