Housewarming Paulette and I threw a housewarming brunch today, almost 6 months after we actually moved in... better late than never. It was great to see so many friends, most of whom we haven't seen in ages. The bummer about throwing parties is that you often don't get enough time to visit with anyone, and so I hope we can catch up with people individually soon. With 30+ people in the house, it was a new experience for Jackson. Lots of kids playing with his toys, and lots of adults that weren't mommy and daddy. All things considered, he handled it like a champ. The rest of the day was shot, since he didn't eat or sleep on his regular schedule. But, a warm bath and some play time with dad seemed to end the day on a good note. Speaking of Jackson, I should mention his latest. He's got a few more spoken words, like "car", "all done", "kitty", and "cracker". Of course, he's still working on his pronunciation, so words like "cracker" sound like a cross between russian and klingon. And it is quite apparent that there are many more thoughts in his head than he has capacity to express. Most times, of course, he's got enough verbal and body language to be very happy. But sometimes he is can be frustrated for lack of a word. Steve and Rachel stayed into the afternoon, and we had a great visit. I wish we were just 20 minutes closer to each other, because it's always great to hang with them. 9:41:53 PM    trackback []
