Treo is on the way

I ordered it from Amazon, with a total $350 off, bringing my out of pocket expense to $250. Plus, with number portability, I can move from Cingular to Sprint with little external friction. I'm not sure when PacBell really morphed into Cingular, but this time I'll have a much cleaner change to compare and contrast.

My primary concern is coverage. Spots I think about:

  • work - I would have imagined that sitting on the top floor of a tall 4-story building in Redwood Shores would assure me strong signal, but I often have to pace the halls to improve reception. The Treo under Sprint must get some signal at my desk.
  • home - I get good signal now, likely because I can just about spit on the twin peaks tower.
  • simi - signal was fairly week under Cingular, but I got used to it. If I'm there, most of my family is probably within earshot anyway.
  • north tahoe - I was kinda disappointed that to see no signal whatsoever under Cingular in the tahoe donner community. This can only improve, I hope, under Sprint.
  • dead zones - there's a dead zone on 17th at the back side of ashbury heights, and I used to drive thru there every morning. I lost countless calls, mostly to Paulette. She's a very patient person, but I do get frustrated sometimes. Thankfully, among other things, I take a different route these days.
