Apple III: one-click to buy = good; 20 clicks and 2 phone calls to return = bad

My bro can match wits with a world-renowned intellectual property attorney any day of the week! :-)

But alas, the story is not a completely happy one. For in addition to the iMac, I needed a router. At first bought a Belkin router from the Apple site. (By now, I had changed the one-click preferences to ship to my parents, so I was able to buy the Belkin router with one click.) But then seeing that I could get a Belkin wireless router elsewhere (of course, not on the site selling Airports), I tried to cancel the order from Apple. [Lessig Blog]

Yes I respect you, yadda yadda, but dang.

ok, 2 paragraphs on the true wonder that is Apple hardware and software integration... amazing workflow for creating powerful moving pictures and easy-to-mail media delivery... and three paragraphs on your dismay at their lack of implicit support for creative commons (c'mon, dude, do you think they're against you? They're a limited resource. That won't help them sell any more machines to pay the bills and continue to offer amazing technology) and at your own inability to price comparison shop before you hit that one click button... which, by the way, is akin to crack cocaine for songs, let alone hundred dollar computer components. Turn it off. Live with two clicks. [steve cooley's Weblog]
