- MEMORIES: Good Morning. Today is February 5th, halfway through winter! As my father, a dairy farmer all his 92 years, used to say every December 21st, "When the days begin to lengthen, the cold begins to strengthen." We're just back to Connecticut from a couple of days in West Brattleboro, Vermont, where we own my grandparents home next to the active dairy farm that my brother and sister-in-law (Charlie and Helen), and their son, and daughter-in-law (Charlie Jr and Karen) work on seven days a week. Besides milking a big herd of Holsteins twice a day and all the chores, they have a Country Store with a Sugar House where they make Maple Syrup every spring. "Sugaring" is almost here again -- in about three weeks for three to four weeks. They have a web site, robbfamilyfarm.com .
