Lightweight J2EE update
Setting the record a little straighter ...
Simon G. Brown noticed
my
offhand comment three weeks ago,
about the incongruity of "lightweight" in a sentence containing
J2EE and four other acronyms (I'm counting "servlet" as an
acronym here). Thanks to Simon and to
Gerry Giese for explaining that the forest of acronyms
was mostly a marketing error by Sun, and that Simon's
personal blogging system,
Pebble,
actually is pretty lightweight.
Interesting how different things look when you first see them
versus after you've been working with them for a while.
Highway 9, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is like that. The first
time you drive from Saratoga to Felton, it seems like the road
just goes on and on and on. But after commuting over it for
a few months, that drive sometimes seems very brief.
