River Cleaners
A week and a half ago, I wrote
a little "smirk"
about a Sacramento business called "River Cleaners":
In a strip mall in Sacramento, "River cleaners". Boy, that's a big job! I wonder if they have to divert the water while they do it.
Well ...
this Sacramento Bee story
has one example of how River Cleaning is done sometimes.
Summary (in case that sacbee URL is not a permalink):
Part of the American River (North Fork) was diverted into
a tunnel some 36 years ago, and a crook of river was left
dry for all this time. The Auburn Dam was proposed, but
has been on hold since 1977. This summer, that section
of 36-year-dry river is being "cleaned", and the plan now
is to seal off that diversion tunnel and restore the river
to its original course.
Cool.
