The technique I have been working with, called latent semantic analysis, uses linear algebra to examine patterns of word use across many blog entries and make intelligent guesses about the topics those entries cover. If successful, the search feature would let you do a keyword search, and get back relevant results even when there was no exact keyword match. You could also run 'find similar' searches on one or more entries from your weblog, or paste in entire paragraphs of text into the search box and get back meaningful results. You could even hook up your weblog to others, and create a distributed network of search engines, all talking to each other.
