3G MVNO looks at it differently. 3G_news

Case and point: I had a Nokia N90 last year - the flagship N-Series phone. It had a screen with a resolution on par with my PSP (!!!), 3G support, and an awesome camera. Sure it wasn[base ']Äôt as sexy as most asian phones, but the specs were there. What are the main differentiators between US and asian mobile phone capabilities now? Here[base ']Äôs my take:

The report shows how this data revenue is achieved with rich portfolios of services, including mobile Internet access, entertainment, ringtones and music, games, mobile TV and video, community portals and mobile transactions.

3G hits 40% in Japan. 3G_news Mobile operators in Japan and South Korea have already reached 40 per cent penetration of 3G services and they are said to provide valuable lessons for mobile operators in other regions, according to a new report.

Nokia, MIT look into next gen User Interface. 3G_news In opening the research facility, Nokia and MIT pointed to its Project Simone (Spoken Interaction for Mobile Networked Ecosystems) as an important joint effort. Investigators are developing spoken language interfaces for mobile users. The effort is concentrating on English and Mandarin-based processing.

Vodacom announces free 3G HSDPA upgrades. 3G_news

Due to the recent successful introduction of HSDPA to the South African market, Vodacom today announced that, effective 21 April 2006, any customer who owns a locally purchased Vodacom 3G Data Connect Card can visit any Vodacom approved outlet for a free swop-out for a 3G HSDPA Data Connect Card - dependent on availability of stock and proof of original purchase within South Africa.

3G: India to outpace Japan soon. 3G_news

A recent study projects that by 2010, India will have 21.3 million 3G users (11 per cent of the mobile lines). Within two years, India will take over Japan to become the third largest mobile market in the world after China and the US, says the recent Confederation of Indian Industry report titled, "Enabling India's Broadband Economy - The 3G Way", conducted in partnership with the research firm, The Yankee Group.
