Tancredo for president?

Elevated Voices: "Last week, Tom Tancredo signaled he was ready to exit from the national spotlight since others were taking up his cause of fighting against the creation of a lawful, permanent presence for the undocumented among us. I was skeptical."

Aurora to impose watering restrictions
A picture named waterfromtap.jpg

Aurora will impose watering restrictions again this year, according to the Rocky Mountain News. From the article, "The decision was made days after the city's water reserves reached 60 percent - making it possible for customers to have access to more water even as they face the restrictions. Customers will have 23 percent more water than they had in 2005 under the restrictions. The limits are intended to make residents more conscious about conservation...Those whose addresses end in even numbers can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and those with odd numbers can water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays

Western Primary?

Colorado Democrats are pushing to get the state approved for an early primary, according to the Denver Post. From the article, "Colorado Democratic Party officials will be in New Orleans on Thursday to make their case that Colorado should join the influential ranks of early presidential primary states such as Iowa and New Hampshire in 2008. Nine other states and the District of Columbia have put in a bid to join the early-voting states. The others are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, South Carolina and West Virginia. All will make presentations Thursday. A decision is not expected until after the fall elections. Colorado Democratic Party chairwoman Pat Waak said she plans to pitch Colorado at the Democratic National Committee meeting as a dynamic political state...

"National Democratic officials are looking at breaking Iowa and New Hampshire's monopoly on early selection by letting several other states with more racial diversity than Iowa and New Hampshire choose their presidential favorites early.

"Under a process that still must be approved by the party's rules committee and the full national committee, one or two states would be allowed to hold caucuses between Iowa and New Hampshire, while another one or two would hold primaries shortly after New Hampshire. In 2004, the Iowa and New Hampshire votes were in January. Under the new proposal, the rest of the states would hold their primaries and caucuses beginning in early February."
