2004 Presidential Election

Lawrence Lessig: "When they write the account of the 2004 campaign, it will include at least one word that has never appeared in any presidential history: blog. Whether or not it elects the next president, the blog may be the first innovation from the Internet to make a real difference in election politics. But to see just why requires a bit of careful attention." Thanks to Dave Winer for the link.

NHPrimary.com: "Four Democratic presidential candidates have spent nearly $6 million on TV commercials even though they face three more months of campaigning before the first votes are cast. The early ad spending, largely focused on Iowa and New Hampshire, reflects the jockeying by the candidates for an advantage in the crowded nine-way field. Advertising gives the contenders a chance to introduce themselves to voters, highlight their agendas and criticize their rivals."

NHPrimary.com: "Democrats want a winner, above all else. Policies, endorsements, leadership posts, Washington experience - even a candidate's history with the party itself - mean less than usual in this year's primary fight. Democratic voters say a single quality outranks them all: the ability to beat President Bush."
