Stygius: "While several Republican senators have come out in favor of White House compliance with the Senate's request for information on Bolton's handling of secret intelligence, the Bush Administration has managed to get Intelligence Chairman Pat Roberts singing in key, or at least no longer overtly frowning on a recess appointment."

Colorado Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis is one of several candidates named to replace retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, according to the Denver Post [July 12, 2005, "State justice touted as nominee"]. From the article, "Kourlis, daughter of a former Colorado governor, is one of scores of candidates mentioned for the opening created by O'Connor's retirement...Kourlis was appointed to the state Supreme Court by then-Gov. Roy Romer in May 1995 after serving as a district judge, a water judge and a lawyer specializing in natural resources. A registered Republican who draws praise from members of both parties, Kourlis is the daughter of the late Gov. John A. Love. Typically, Supreme Court candidates are sent to the White House with the endorsement of the state's top elected officials. Gov. Bill Owens' spokesman, Dan Hopkins, declined to comment on whether the governor recommended Kourlis for the nation's highest court."
