Stygius: "The Washington Post revisits the stalled John Bolton nomination, as the White House again floats the recess appointment balloon, but the meat of the story is news that Bolton wants to use the UN Ambassadorship to influence administration policy, contrary to what the Senate was told this spring."

Blogs for Bush replaced their graphic of John Bolton with a nice tribute to London.

A picture named rebeccalovekourlis.jpgHere's an article about support building around Colorado Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis to replace retiring Sandra Day O'Connor, from the Rocky Mountain News [July 13, 2005, "Looking toward West"]. From the article, "Kourlis and her husband, Tom Kourlis, have a ranch near Craig. A graduate of Stanford University Law School, Rebecca Kourlis practiced law in Denver and Craig in the 1970s and 1980s. She became a state district judge in northwestern Colorado in 1987 and was chief judge there from 1991 to 1994. She is the daughter of the late John Love, a former Colorado governor. Another Westerner, Judge Michael McConnell of Utah, who serves on the Denver-based 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, also has been mentioned frequently as a potential U.S. Supreme Court justice. Conway said Allard also has received letters recommending McConnell but far fewer than those urging Kourlis' nomination."
