2008 Presidential Election

Here's an article from the the Rocky Mountain News about Wellington Webb's run for the Chair of the Democratic Party [December 20, 2004, "Webb stresses Western ties"]. From the article, "They're both rivals for the job now and were on stage together in Florida for one of a series of forums that will whittle down the long list of contenders before a vote in February. More than 400 Democratic National Committee members from every state will pick the new party chairman. Webb is making the case that as a Westerner, he knows all about how the party can win in Republican- leaning territory - the so-called 'red states' of the Rocky Mountains and South."

Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [December 20, 2004, "Webb riding in DNC derby"]. They list the current crop of candidates, in addition to Webb: Jim Blanchard, former Michigan governor; Howard Dean, former Vermont governor; Martin Frost, outgoing Texas representative; Harold Ickes, former Clinton White House staffer; Molly Beth Malcolm, former Texas Democratic chairwoman; Tim Roemer, former Indiana representative."

More stories on Webb's candidacy here and here from the Western Democrat.

Update: Daily Kos: "Fox News is polling Hillary for obvious reasons -- it's red meat for their base."

Update: Daily Kos: "NDN has sent out an email with their thoughts on the DNC chairmanship -- a job with clearly evolving qualifications."
