Colorado Water

Here's a story about the Big Straw from the Denver Post [November 21, 2003, "'Big Straw' could suck dry Colo. wallets"]. From the article, "The nearly 200-mile pipeline from the Utah border to the Continental Divide could cost up to $15 billion, if it were built at today's prices, and $721 million annually to operate, according to a study presented to the Colorado Water Conservation Board on Thursday. At that price, every Colorado household would have to pony up as much as $7,350 to build it and likely see water bills more than double, according to the study. Water leaders agreed that the Big Straw, financially, is hard to swallow."
