Colorado Water

Here's an opinion piece, written by Melinda Kassen of Trout Unlimited, urging the adoption of a sensible water policies for Colorado, from the Rocky Mountain News [November 30, 2003, "Speakout: A chance for smarter water use"]. From the editorial, "The answer to this dilemma is not to build large, risky and damaging water projects, but to develop or improve sensible, local solutions that take into account all factors: the wide variety of demands for water, sources of supplies, and mitigation of environmental and economic consequences in affected areas."

The Rocky editorial staff is worried that the powers that be won't come together in time to solve Douglas County's water problems [November 29, 2003, "No time to lose in race for water"].
