Colorado Water

The Colorado River is forecast to be about 60% of it's normal self this year, according to the Rocky Mountain News [May 14, 2004, "Colorado River expected to be lower than average"]. From the article, "The Colorado River is the state's largest and supplies water to millions of people from Grand Lake all the way to Los Angeles. It provides roughly half of the metro area's water supplies. Nearly 200 people in Summit and Grand counties gathered this week to hear summer weather and stream flow predictions for the river. The predictions are key to reservoir levels at such high-profile recreation spots as Dillon and Green Mountain reservoirs in Summit County and Lake Granby in Grand County. Denver Water, which owns Dillon Reservoir, said it hopes to fill the lake well past the 80 percent mark and could top it off if the spring delivers prolonged wet weather. But the Berthoud-based Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District said Lake Granby - Colorado's second largest reservoir - will fill to just 55 percent of capacity."
